*** ASSEMBLY PASSES DELTA STATE CAPITAL TERRITORY DEVELOPMENT AGENCY AMENDMENT BILL 

A bill for a law to provide for the establishment of Warri/Uvwie and Environs Special Area Development Agency 2019 has passed first reading on the floor of the Delta State House of Assembly.

The  bill was read the first time, on Thursday,  May 2, 2019  following a motion to that effect by the Majority Leader, Hon Tim Owhefere and seconded by Hon  Efe Ofobruku, representing Uvwie constituency at a plenary presided over by the Speaker, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori 

The  Administrative Structure, Functions and Powers of the Board and other matters connected with are all embedded in the proposed law.

The Second reading of the bill has been slated for May 7, Tuesday2019.

Meanwhile the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency Amendment Bill, 2019 has  been read the third time and passed on the floor of the house.

The bill as passed seeks to reduce the tenure of the Director General, from a single term of five years to a single term of four years.

The passage followed a motion by the Majority Leader, Hon. Tim Owhefere, for the house to suspend order 12, 77, 78, 79 of the house rule to enable it take the second reading of the bill and was seconded by the member representing Aniocha South, Hon. Angela Nwaka.

Hon Owhefere thereafter, moved for the third reading of the bill and was seconded by member representing Ika North East, Hon. Emeka Elekeokwuri.

The house will resume plenary on Tuesday 7, May 2019.
