The Delta State House of Assembly has received a request from the State Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa Ifeanyi Okowa for confirmation of the nomination of Justice Theresa Diai as the substantive Delta State Chief Judge.

Also nominated for confirmation is Justice Patience Elumeze as the substantive President of the Delta State Customary Court of Appeal.

The letters conveying the two nominations for screening and confirmation were read on the floor of the House at resumed plenary on Tuesday by the Speaker, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori.

The House also received the nomination of Mr Cyril Agbele as the Chairman of the Delta State Bureau for Pensions.

According to the Governor, the nomination of Mr Agbele followed
the demise of the erstwhile Chairman of the board, Mr Tony Obuh.

The three nominees have been requested to submit 35 copies of their curriculum vitae and appear for screening on Thursday, June 27 2021.

Also read on the floor of the House by the Speaker, were letters from Eighteen local government chairmen, conveying names of Eighteen nominees for screening and confirmation as Secretaries to local government councils.

Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori had in his address at resumed plenary, called on Members to brace up for the task ahead.

He noted that there were backlog of issues to be attended to, even as he directed chairmen and members of committees to immediately resume action on all pending bills, petitions and motions before them.

The resumption of plenary was sequel to the suspension of the strike action by members of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) which lasted for over two months.
