The Delta State HIV/AIDS Anti-discrimination and protection bill, 2020 has scaled through the first reading on the floor of the Delta State House of Assembly. 

The bill which seeks for a law to prohibit all forms of discrimination and give protection, access to justice, support and care for all persons living with and affected with HIV/AIDS in Delta State is being sponsored by the Member Representing Warri South One Constituency, Hon Austin Uroye and 24 others.

The motion for the first reading of the bill was moved by the lead sponsor, Hon Augustine Uroye, seconded by the Deputy Chief Whip of the House, Hon Solomon Ighrakpata who represents Uvwie Constituency.

The motion was unanimously adopted when put to voice vote by the Deputy Speaker,  Rt Hon   Hon Ochor Christopher  Ochor who presided over Tuesday’s plenary.

The second reading of the bill has been slated for  March  10, 2020.

The House has adjourned sitting to Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at 10: 00am.
