The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori has charged the State House of Assembly Commission to ensure regular training and retraining of Staff of the Commission for effective performance.

Rt Hon Oborevwori gave the charge when the Chairman, Barrister (Mrs) Josephine Kachikwu and members of the Commission paid him a courtesy visit in his office at the State House of Assembly Complex, Asaba.

According to the Speaker;” training and retraining of staff of the Delta State House of Assembly is key to effective and efficient legislative activities of the house. The civil servants are always regarded as the engine room of the government. So for them to do well, they must receive required training. So, I am using this opportunity to remind you of one of your major responsibilities and to employ to always strive for the best for Assembly staff”, including the area of training and retraining.

He promised that the House would look into the issues raised by the commission geared towards better performance.

Earlier, the Chairman, Delta State House of Assembly Service Commission, Mrs Josephine Kachikwu commended members of the Assembly for the stability in the House and urged them to keep it up.

She said that;”The Delta State House of Assembly is doing extremely well; members of the House are trying their best. The stability in the House is commendable”.

She appealed to the House to repel the law that pegged the tenure of Members of the Commission at four years and should be brought back to five years just as she raised the issue of accommodation for members and office building for the Commission.

Highpoint of the courtesy visit was the presentation of the annual report of the Commission to Speaker Oborevwori by the Chairman of the Commission.
