Eden Hazard proved his mettle over the weekend when he came to Chelsea’s rescue with a stunning left footer goal.
The match, which was completely dominated by the Blues, seemed to be going for a stalemate as former Chelsea players posed a stealer defense for AFC Bournemouth; the duo of Asmir Begovic and Nathan Ake seemed to the bent on ensuring the blues hierarchy regretted their sale over the summer. With six blocked shots and an unusually wasteful effort from the prolific Alvaro Morata it seemed Chelsea fans were up for another disappointing night.
But Eden Hazard, the self-appointed Chelsea best player and arguable the best player in the EPL, fought relentlessly to grab all three point for the Champions of England. The breakthrough came on the 51st minute when Morata turned the Bournemouth defense to give Hazard a looping pass. Hazard had a lot of work to do before breaking the hearts of the Bournemouth fans. With a total of 18 shots from the champions that goal was the decider in the fixture. It was his first goal of the season after sitting out the beginning of the season with an ankle injury.
In other matches, Manchester United narrowly escaped with three points against Spurs one goal to nil at home, Arsenal came from behind to win Swansea at the Emirates 2 to 1, Man City continued on their winning streak against West Brom 3 to 2 in an away fixture, and Liverpool won 3 to nil against Huddlersfield.
