The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori has urged the State Christian community in particular and Nigerians in general to imbibe the virtues of Jesus Christ in all that they do as they join the rest of the world in the celebration of this year’s Easter.

In an Easter message contained in a Press Statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Dennis Otu, Rt Hon Oborevwori noted that Jesus Christ sacrificed his life for mankind and exhibited selflessness in all that he did and urged Nigerians to exhibit these virtues of love.

The Speaker believes that it is imperative that this period is used for meditation and sober reflection on the life and times of Jesus Christ and his sacrifices, with a view to imbibing the legacies of which include but not limited to humility, forgiveness, tolerance, good neighbourliness, respect and empathy for others’ feelings as well as love for one another.

According to him, the application of these virtues taught and lived by Jesus Christ is needed now more than at any time in the history of our country.

” As we grapple with the challenges of mutual distrust, poverty suspicion, and insecurity in the country, I want to appeal to all Nigerians to, in the spirit of the Easter celebration, eschew bitterness and recommit to those noble ideals of unity in diversity for which we used to be known until very recently”, the Speaker said.

Rt Hon Oborevwori urged a return to those wonderful days and prayed that the goodwill of Easter would fill our hearts with joy, peace and laughter.
