The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori has lauded the good intention of Konrad Adenauer Stiftung ( KAS) in assisting the State House of Assembly with continuous capacity building as a sub national parliament.

In his goodwill message on Monday, April 12, 2021 at the opening of a Two-Day training workshop for Honourable Members of the Delta State House of Assembly by Konrad Adenauer Stiftung holding at the Ibom Icon Hotels, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, the Speaker recalled that sometimes last year, specifically on the 8th – 9th of September, lawmakers in the state had the rare privilege of attending a training Workshop in Asaba courtesy of KAS on capacity building of Members.

According to him; “I am sure the benefits of that training cannot be over emphasised and have helped us significantly in carrying out our functions as lawmakers”.

“Let me also commend Konrad Foundation for this rare show of love towards Honourable Members of the Delta State House of Assembly. I want to put it on record that we do not take lightly, your investment in the knowledge base of our Members and indeed the bureaucracy of the Assembly”, the Speaker said.

“I am happy to be here with my colleagues for yet another very engaging Capacity Building Workshop by Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Foundation. I am particularly elated this morning because of the quality of the resource persons that will facilitate this Workshop. I can see from the programme, erudite scholars from the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies ( NILDS) and other notable scholars from very reputable institution”, Rt Hon Oborevwori added.

In his words also; “Having said that, I want to specially thank my Colleagues for also finding time to attend this training programme in spite of their tight schedules. What that tells me is that you appreciate knowledge and what the Foundation is doing for the House”.

The Speaker commended Konrad Foundation for the rare show of love towards Honourable Members of the Delta State House of Assembly, adding that ; “We deeply appreciate Dr.Vladimir Kreck the Country Representative and Mr Samson for their commitment to the development of democracy in Nigeria”.

“We are grateful for your unbroken commitment to the training and re-training of members for greater efficiency and effectiveness. I also want to specially thank the Director- General, NILDS for all his assistance to our Assembly. Thank you sir. Finally, as we begin this training workshop today, I urge us to give it the seriousness it deserves and also find time to enjoy the sights and sounds of Akwa Ibom State”, he stated.
