The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. (Chief) Sheriff Oborevwori,  (JP)  has  felicitated with the Okpe people as their social-cultural organization, the Okpe Union, marks her 89th founder’s day. 

In his goodwill  message to the President General of the Okpe Union, Chief Robert Onome, the National Executive Council, and entire members, the Speaker prayed for the union to wax stronger and continue to strengthen the unity amongst Okpe people the world over.

Chief Oborevwori who is a bonafide son and notable chief in Okpe Kingdom, expressed   gladness  that the body has helped to foster unity amongst the Okpe people and people of other ethnic groups in the state and country. 

In his words, “I rejoice with the Okpe Union for it’s steadfast commitment to fostering unity in our State and country. The Okpe Union has played a consistent role in projecting Okpe norms and values, amongst other achievements in our society. I celebrate with the National Executive, branches and members the world over, and pray for better days ahead.”

The Okpe Union officially took off in Lagos on the 16th of May, 1930 which date has been celebrated yearly since that time.
