The Delta State House of Assembly is to ensure the continuous training and retraining of Members and Staff of the State House of Assembly Service Commission for effective performance.

Speaker of the House, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori gave the assurance when members of the Commission led by its Chairman, Barrister (Mrs) Josephine Kachikwu paid him a courtesy visit in his office.

According to the Speaker, “I want to assure members of the Delta State House of Assembly Service Commission that the House will take the training and retraining of the members seriously so as to get the best out of them. The House will not compromise this”.

The Speaker also promised that the House would look into the issue of accommodation for the members of the Commission as well as build a benefiting office for the Commission.

He equally said that the House would provide outfit for Staff of the Assembly and members of the Commission, disclosing that the House was able to pay Christmas bonus and outfit allowance to Staff of the Assembly last December.

“This singular act was the first of its kind in the history of the Assembly”, he said and lauded members of the Commission for the promotion and discipline of the Staff.

Earlier, the Chairman, Delta State House of Assembly Service Commission, Mrs Josephine Kachikwu commended members of the Assembly for the stability in the House and urged them to keep it up.

She said that;”The Delta State House of Assembly is doing extremely well; members of the House are trying their best. The stability in the House is commendable”.

She appealed to the House to repel the law that pegged the tenure of Members of the Commission at four years and should be brought back to five years just as she raised the issue of accommodation for members and office building for the Commission.

Highpoint of the courtesy visit was the presentation of the annual report of the Commission to Speaker Oborevwori by the Chairman of the Commission.
