*** RECEIVES REPORT ON DELTA STATE JOB AND WEALTH CREATION BUREAU BILL
The State House of Assembly at Wednesday’s plenary screened and confirmed fourteen persons nominated by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for appointment into two Agencies and a Commission.
The Agencies are the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency and the Warri Uvwie and Environs Special Areas Development Agency as well as the Delta State Local Government Service Commission.
The screening of the nominees for appointment into the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency followed a motion moved by the Deputy Majority Leader, Hon Oboro Preyor seconded by Hon Charles Oniyere and adopted.
Those screened are Chief Ighoyota Amori as Chairman, Hon Onyemaechi Mrakpor a former member of the House and House of Representatives as Director General, Ogbueshi Adizue Eluaka, Hon Blessing Adidi and Dr Isaac Wilkie as members.
The nominees introduced themselves and thereafter the Speaker, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori said Chief Ighoyota Amori is a leader in the State and a former Senator while Hon Mrakpor was a two time member of the State Legislature and a former member of the House of Representatives hence were well known to the House and asked them to take a bow.
The Deputy Majority Leader, Hon Oboro Preyor moved for the confirmation of the nominees and was seconded by Hon Peter Uviejitobor.
Also screened by the House were the nominees for appointment into the Warri/Uvwie and Environs Special Areas Development Agency following a motion by the Deputy Majority Leader, Hon Oboro Preyor seconded by Hon Charles Emetulu.
The nominees are Dr Joseph Otumara as Chairman, Comrade Ovuozourie Macaulay as Director General, Dr Sunny Ezonfade,Mrs Amaka Egboro and Prince Kelly Otuedon as members.
The Speaker, Rt Hon Oborevwori noted that Dr Otumara and Comrade Macaulay are leaders in the State and have appeared before the House several times adding that they have served the State well in various capacities .
The nominees were also confirmed by the House after a motion by the Deputy Majority Leader, Hon Oboro Preyor seconded by Hon Asupa Forteta .
The nominees for appointment into the Delta State Local Government Commission were also screened by the House.
Those screened are Hon Joseph Otirhue, a former Chairman of Okpe Local Government Council and former Aide to the Governor as Chairman, Pastor Chukwuka John Greatman as first member, Hon Katherine Ikolo,a pioneer member of the State Legislature as second member and Mrs Rose Asore as third member.
The Deputy Majority Leader, Hon Oboro Preyor applied to the House that Honourable Katherine Ilolo being a pioneer member of the House and other nominees should be given the rare privilege of taking a bow as other nominees had enjoyed.
The Speaker, Rt Hon Oborevwori granted the application and asked the nominees to take a bow and were confirmed by the House following a motion by Deputy Majority Leader, Hon Oboro Preyor seconded by Hon Emmanuel Sinebe.
Earlier at plenary the House received the report of the ad-hoc Committee on the Delta State Job and Wealth Creation Bureau Bill presented by the Chairman of the ad-hoc Committee, Hon Oboro Preyor.
He said the committee received the bill after the second reading and scrutinised it clause by clause and made necessary amendments.
The House has adjourned plenary to Tuesday August 6,2019.
