Delta Governor, Sen. (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa has said the State is a praying State and will continue to partner with the church in the areas of praying for our leaders and against insecurity in the country.
Governor Okowa stated this on Saturday during a Special Annointing Service by Bishop (Dr.) Chris Kwakpovwe, publisher, Our Daily Manna in Asaba.
Represented by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, the governor said: “As a State we believe in the efficacy of prayer. Delta State is a praying state and we have been enjoying prevailing peace in the state because the hand of God is upon us.
According to him; “As a State we believe in the efficacy of prayer. Delta State is a praying state and we have been enjoying the prevailing peace in the state. God has been gracious to us as a state. If you go round the state, you will see massive infrastructural development across the three Senatorial Districts.
“All these are possible through the special grace of God. We will therefore continue to partner with the church in the areas of praying for our leaders and against insecurity in the country which has assumed a worrisome dimension”.
He said that the Asaba Special Anointing Service could not have come at a better time than now, adding that; “We need prayers for our nation and prevailing global challenges”.
As a Government, he said; “We are excited and hopeful anytime Bishop is here in the State for his programme. We count it as a blessing. Once again, you are welcome Sir”.
He also said that; “Like a true follower of Christ and the man of God that you are, you have demonstrated through the publication of your daily devotional, OUR DAILY MANNA, that the word of God has no confined territory but cuts across borders. As one of the most respected men of God, your strong desire to propagate the gospel and win souls for the kingdom of God has not gone unnoticed. We acknowledge your contribution to humanity ever since you started the publication of Our Daily Manna. Spiritually speaking, Bishop, you have impacted lives positively with utmost humility”.
“It is our prayer that God will use you to heal the sick, give hope to the poor and preach the Good news to our people. Prayer is a sign of dependence on God and it availeth much. Nehemiah, Daniel, Esther and others prayed and God answered their prayers. In today’s Anointing Service, God will answer all our prayers in Jesus name. Amen”, he said.
He added that; “Here in Delta State, we have been praying and God has been so faithful to us as a state and people. As a State, we are dedicated to God and we have always anchored our hope on the Almighty God. The government and the great people of Delta State appreciate what you are doing. We are proud of you Sir. May God keep you, strengthened you as we begin the Asaba Anointing Service today with the theme: “ALL SATANIC CAGES MUST BURN. THE HERO IN ME MUST RISE! “
Bishop Kwakpovwe used the Asaba Special Anointing Service that was well attended to pray for the government and people of Delta State.
