***  Says ” We Can Make Our Assembly The Envy  Of  Other  States Legislatures”

*** Commends  Constituents For Electing Them As Members Of  Seventh Assembly 

*** Hails Governor Okowa For His  Support To  The Legislature, Other  Arm Of Government 

The  Delta State House of Assembly on Monday,  June 10, 2019, re–elected  Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori as the Speaker of the Assembly. 

In his acceptance speech,   Rt.Hon Oborevwori representing Okpe State Constituency, expressed gratitude to his colleagues for the honour and privilege of electing him    as Speaker of the Seventh Assembly.

” I sincerely thank you my dear colleagues for the trust placed on me to once again serve as Speaker of this noble Assembly for a second term. By this show of love and trust, we have today set an indelible record in the history of our State Legislature. We give God the praise”, he said. 

While saying that he was aware  of the challenges that come with the responsibility, he  assured his Colleagues   that he  will not take it for   granted, adding that; “Be rest assured that I will always draw on your advice and cooperation, and also strive to the best of my abilities to deliver on this mandate with diligence, dignity and honour”.

“Going forward, we will stress the need for improvement of the internal operations of the House, improvement of internal and external communications and collaboration with civil society organizations/development partners. I believe as a team, we can make our Assembly the envy of other States Legislatures. From this day onward, as members of the Seventh Assembly, I challenge you to bring your best to bear on our legislative duties so that we can sustain what the Delta State House of Assembly is known for. We are the most vibrant State House of Assembly in Nigeria”, the Speaker stated. 

According to him also;    “My  dear colleagues, every one of us is here on the strength and trust of our constituents. Accordingly, the least expectation for our mandates would be honest representation, accountability, transparency and commitment to the discharge of our legislative duties. This is our social contract with our constituents, and I pledge on behalf of all members of the Seventh Assembly that we will deliver on this mandate. I therefore thank profusely our constituents for electing us to this Seventh Assembly”.

The Speaker    specially recognised  their  families for  their support, understanding, prayers and above all their love for them  as families, noting that;  “Our families were always there for us through the thick and thin of the elections. May God bless you for standing by us”.

Rt.Hon Oborevwori  extended his  utmost gratitude to the  State  Governor, His Excellency Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa for his support to the legislature and to the other arm of government.

Emmanuel Okoro (the Pioneer Speaker of the House), Rt. Hon. J.F.K. Omatsone, Rt. Hon. Barr. Basil Ganagana, Rt. Hon. Engr. Frank Enekorogha, Rt. Hon. Dr. Olisa Imegwu, Rt. Hon. Barr. Martins Okonta, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Prince Sam Obi, Rt. Hon. Peter Onwusanya (CAN) and Rt. Hon. (Chief) Funkekeme Solomon (Senior Political Adviser to the Governor). It is also my honour to recognize our various party leaders and Chairmen of other political parties here present”, he added.
